Founded in 1898, The Institute of Bankers in Ireland is the professional education body for bankers and financial services practitioners in Ireland. It is a ‘not for profit’ centre of excellence dedicated to serving its 35,000 members, 50 corporate members and society at large.  It is also one of the oldest and most respected banking institutes in the world whose mission is to enhance the knowledge and skills of those working in banking and financial services.

The Institute of Bankers in Ireland is a recognised college of University College Dublin. For 2012|2013, the Institute's School of Professional Finance offers a comprehensive portfolio of Financial Services programmes ranging from Professional Certificate (Level 7 of the National Framework of Qualifications) to Masters (Level 9).

The Institute also provides members with an innovative Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme which not only enables members to meet their CPD requirements under the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) issued by the Central Bank of Ireland and encourages and facilitates life-long learning.  CPD helps ensure that members keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date throughout their career.
